Main title sequence for the TOCA ME 2018 design Conference in Munich
TOCA ME
My partner was approached to see if our studio, MATERIA, would create the title sequence for the TOCA ME 2018 design conference in Munich. Naturally, we jumped at this amazing opportunity and were excited to craft a beautiful intro for the event — and to have a fantastic project where we could truly express ourselves artistically.
Ever-changing landscapes inspired by organic textures and surfaces.
Surreal worlds created by processing live action scenes with CG techniques.
To create morphing textures we captured slowly spreading color on even surfaces.
All scenes were filmed with a RED Weapon and a macro lens in 8K. The analog source sequences were further taken as a base for generating the 3d structures by displacing and shading geometry inside 3d software.
The score by Gavin Little from ECHOLAB was inspired by seismic movements, blending organic and digital sounds to mirror the shifting textures. By burying contact mics in soil to record natural vibrations, he captured stunning, geological tones that drive the music’s evolving, earth-like progression.
